Policy

Overarching Mott Goal:

Goal 2:  Support the development and growth of statewide policies that will secure the resources that are needed to sustain new and existing afterschool programs.

Specific Network Goal:

Guide local and state level Out-of-School Time (OST) policy to increase and stabilize funding for OST that reflect best practices, continuous improvement and a high quality work force.

Long Term Outcomes:

Adopt a public policy agenda that develops statewide support for high quality OST programs.

Short Term Outcomes:

  • Report on status of programs statewide.
  • Use data collection that supports the need for moving vision forward into public policy.
  • Develop policies that support VPOST.
  • Develop policy support for securing resources.

 

Network Elements:

  1. Element:  Develop a public policy statement based on vision, mission and goals. (White paper)

 

  1. Element:  Data collection on status of programs statewide:  i.e.  What information is out there?  What information is missing? Coordinate/organize fragmented information.  Identify what already exists at state, local and regional levels.  Where is funding coming from?  How are funds used/directed?
  1. Element:  Create a report with recommendations based on analysis of data to guide policy.

 

  1. Element:  Develop a plan that integrates and aligns existing programs, funding and policy at state, regional and local levels.
