Alexandria Beyond the Classroom
Caitlin Brown is the Executive Director of Alexandria Beyond the Classroom (ALX Beyond), an expanded learning and out-of-school time intermediary consisting of 100+ K-12 youth-serving providers in Alexandria, Virginia. Caitlin has had a multi-faceted career as a professional musician, non-profit co-founder, classroom teacher, and program director. Caitlin serves on VPOST’s Board of Directors and the Commonwealth Alliance for Thriving Youth. Last year, she was a White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellow at Furman University’s Riley Institute. Having experience in the classroom and out-of-school time programming, Caitlin is passionate about the intersectionality of education and expanded learning. She believes that high-quality, equitable expanded learning programs are the vehicles for young people to find their passion, purpose, and joy.
