We need your help advocating for afterschool programs! VPOST recently completed the OST Access Map project to help understand gaps in the availability of programs across the Commonwealth. This is just the start. The Virginia General Assembly is considering budget proposals. One of them would require the Department of Education to study out-of-school time programs currently available in Virginia. This will identify areas where there are critical gaps in access to such programs, and develop recommendations for mitigating these gaps. Working parents need assistance and safe supervision of their children outside of school hours.

Please take a few minutes to e-mail your legislator and ask them to support this amendment that has no cost. If passed, it would provide Virginia policymakers with the information needed to assess the current state of OST programs in Virginia and how to best move forward to expand access to more children.

Simply fill out the form below and click “start writing”. This will automatically create a pre-written letter you can edit and send it straight to legislators!
