The VPOST Board of Directors is supported by several strategic advisory partners, through the work of the Policy, Development, Governance, Bridging & Belonging, Finance, and Quality committees. Each committee meets virtually at least quarterly, and, in most cases, one hour per month, led by a member of VPOST’s Board.

Policy Committee
The purpose of the Policy Committee is to provide guidance on key public policy issues impacting the Virginia out-of-school time field, including funding, licensing, governmental relations, etc. The Policy Committee helps to design the legislative agenda and works with VPOST Staff to plan advocacy events, including webinars, advocacy training, and hill events at the Virginia General Assembly and the US Capitol.
Bridging & Belonging Committee
The purpose of the Bridging & Belonging Committee is to foster and bridge the development of partnerships with new populations not yet connected to VPOST and to seek opportunities to build and form new connections with both potential out-of-school participants and potential employees and board members through outreach efforts.
Quality Committee
The purpose of the Quality Committee is to focus on increasing the quality of the out-of-school time field in Virginia. This includes scaling supports across regions and the state to establish a system of OST program quality. The Quality Standards serve as a guiding framework for developing and fostering engagement with tools, resources, and professional development that support continuous program improvement.
Development Committee
The purpose of the Development Committee is to ensure the sustainability of VPOST by fostering the development of partnerships with stakeholder groups and seeking opportunities to braid existing public funds, identifying new funding sources, and building relationships with individuals and organizations in the public and private sectors.
Governance Committee
The purpose of the Governance Committee is to assist the Board of Directors of VPOST in fulfilling its responsibilities regarding matters that relate to governing the organization and in identifying, recruiting, and making recommendations for candidates to the VPOST Board of Directors.
Finance Committee
The purpose of the Finance Committee is to provide oversight and guidance related to the financial health of VPOST. The committee reviews and prepares organizational budgets, monitors budget vs. actual reporting, and supports financial planning efforts. The committee also provides regular financial reports and recommendations to the Board of Directors to support informed decision-making and fiduciary responsibility.
